Hiring internationally can be an exciting opportunity for businesses looking to expand their reach and tap into new markets. However, the process can also be complex and challenging.
Watch the recording of our webinar with Deel on how to recruit and hire internationally.
How has recruitment and hiring evolved over the past few years?
“Over the last 10-15 the power has shifted from the company to the candidate” – Chris Danks
“Last year specifically we saw there was quite a bit of turmoil in the market, a lot of redundancies” – Matt Monette
“What we saw is a Large majority of companies, specifically in the tech space, close the gap and terminated quite a lot of must have roles, so what they did is they made terminations in markets where these employees were fairly costly.” – Matt Monette
Why are organisations recruiting and hiring international talent?
“We are seeing more companies hiring international talent for three reasons, firstly, they are bringing the job to the person rather than the person to the job. Secondly, is the cost exercise; they want the best talent anywhere in the world but don’t want to pay them an exuberant amount based on the market conditions. Thirdly, more talented individuals know that they can work remotely and get hired internationally based on levers like Deel.” – Matt Monette
“One of the things we’ve seen a big uptick on is many companies are looking to expand internationally to offshore for costs reasons.” – Chris Danks
“People are still moving to gain access to new markets where they need to actually sell into new countries” – Chris Danks
What key recruitment strategies do you recommend for hiring internationally ?
“Have a recruiter that understands a few key things, the first thing being the local market, doesn’t mean it has to be done in country all the time, but certainly understands the market, it helps in many cases knowing the local language, and also the nuances around how you onboard people in that country, As well as an understanding of both the industry and the type of role you are looking to hire just to give them a head start.” – Chris Danks
“When putting a job posting out there be intentional, understand where you want them to be but also understand what your companies willing to change in order to make an international hire happen” – Matt Monette
